Who are we?
Following the conversion of the Scottish Sunday School Union for Christian Education into a Trust, it was recognised that the new twenty first century required a fresh approach to the work of Christian education among the children of Scotland. The organisation was restyled in a number of ways, taking the new title of Christian Education Association Scotland (ceas).

We are interdenominational
ceas is committed to ecumenical co-operation in the Christian Ministry among children. The following denominations are represented on the ceas Trust:
Baptist Union of Scotland
Church of Scotland
Methodist Church in Scotland
Scottish Episcopal Church
United Free Church of Scotland
United Reformed Church in Scotland

What do we do?
ceas seeks to encourage all engaged in ministries with children, both as volunteers and in a professional capacity, in their work.

In recent times we have hosted significant seminars for Christian
Educators These have included:-
David Hay well known for his ground-breaking research into children’s spirituality,
• Kathleen Copsey founder of CURBS,
• Jerome Berryman who developed the highly popular technique of Godly Play.
• Martyn Payne who led workshops in 2006 and 2007 touching on the use of Bible stories with children and imaginative worship..

ceas also makes awards to individuals and organisations concerned with the promotion of  bone fide projects in Christian Education.

Direct funding to assist those engaging in Christian Education at a more advanced level is available from ceas through the Alistair Dingwall Award.

The Alistair Dingwall Award Scheme
ceas makes awards to individuals and groups who are engaged in more advanced study and development of projects in the field of the Christian education of children in Scotland. Full particulars and an application form are available from the Executive Secretary of ceas.

ceas is a member of the Consultative Group on Ministry among Children, an agency of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland and maintains links with colleagues across Europe through the European Conference on Christian Education.

This ceas website is constantly being expanded to provide ready links and references for all who are interested in advancing their skills and knowledge of Christian Education in church, home and school.
